Cangel goes against what the show stands for. It's a rip-off of the Bangel storyline, is stupid, doesn't make sense, and in truth, is out of character. You are wrong, it's more that the writers were being pressured by the network to have Angel move on even it doesn't make any sense whatsoever because the reason why Angel left Buffy in the first place because Angel couldn't be in a relationship and can't risk loosing his soul. From then on, it was his mission and purpose, not hook up with women and make his departure from Sunnydale invalid. Season 3 of Angel lacks consistency in that area considering what has been said in the regarding Angel being with Buffy and his gypsy curse. If you say that it was right of the writers to even do that, then it's wrong. Cordelia herself was against Angel loosing his soul and starting up with a relationship considering what happened in Buffy Season 2. Did you even watch those seasons?
Both situations between Bangel&Angel/Connor are pretty much the same. It's a fact.
If anyone says that Buffy never made Angel smile or happy is wrong.
If you love your kid more than the love of your life, then there's something wrong with the picture.
