I was rewatching some of their scenes and I just love their story so much and during each watch I appreciate Angelus/Darla relationship probably even more than Angel/Darla's.
I guess I just loved how Angelus cared for Darla on a level that he really wasn't capable of caring for anyone else with because he was souless.
Darla was the one who taught him everything he knew and she would have been the only one he can tolerate to be with forever.
He promised her the world, the perfect view and I just loved how he got tortured instead of giving up Darla's location.
