Bobby proposed. He asked Carol "Will you we my bife?" He was so nervous. They made plans to get married in a year after high school when they both chose their colleges. Both Carol and Bobby's parents were not pleased at all.

Of course, things started to fall apart. Carol wanted to go to Harvard, and Bobby wanted to go to a football college.

The end scene was the breakup. They were all ready to get in a cab and run off when they broke up. Bobby drove off in the cab, leaving Carol at the curb. Then came Mike. Mike, not knowing what happened, made a crack at her. Then Carol, with tears in her eyes, jumped into Mike's arms. She was a sobbing mess. Mike just hugged her as the credits rolled.
