And it only took them three years. Some shows take years to get their main duo or couple as strong as this made Max and Liz. Not to say everything was perfect by the end. I am sure they still had some queasy moments. But in three years, two timelines. To get engaged and you felt confident that this time they would stick, and were determined to make it.
We lucked out.
I will always take the three seasons, including the horrors of Season 2 because it did make them stronger for it all. They were pretty naïve in Season One. They were in love. And nothing had shakened it yet, but they needed the hell to be able to become strong if they wanted each other. Given how complicated it was...with the alien vs. human aspect of it.
Now, I would have chosen a few less obstacles. I will always say Tess was a justified obstacle. I just don't agree where they took that part of the story. But it made sense. But still, to get engaged at 18 and be confident they could succeed. They needed it.
