It's not just her realization that she loved Peter, it's the way she just ran out on her fiancee in front of a whole bunch of their friends in the church, without saying a word. 
At least when Melanie in Sweet Home Alabama realized she loved Jake, she stood there explaining to Andrew why she couldn't stay with him.
