^ That would've been great and it's definitely how it was written half the season then suddenly changed. I just recently rewatched s3 and still find it confusing as to how/why her feelings changed. She seemed to be pining for Dawson most of the season. Dawson being as distant as he was from Joey was a little strange as well after a certain point.

I totally agree, and the only think I can think of is that the writers were responding to fans who wanted Pacey and Joey to hook up
DJo growing apart seemed as contrived as Andie cheating on Pacey, and notably, both storylines brought Pacey and Joey closer.
