I'm not thinking a specific genre, just a good show with sympathetic characters. They don't even have to be saintly, just relatable. A show centered on cheating cannot be that for me. It's not just that I find the focus on the cheating theme boring and unworthy of several seasons, the characters aren't interesting for me either.
See for instance, Better Call Saul. I don't think the main characters can be described as good or evil, just flawed and interesting. Walter Bishop is not a good person and he has done a lot of evil in Fringe and yet it's difficult not to root for him.
