Quotes/Excerpts

When KaDee Strickland and Jason Behr met on the Tokyo set of 'The Grudge' in 2004, it was love at first sight. But the infatuation wasn't with each other; it was with Japan. "We shared an affinity for the culture, food and art, yet we were just friends," says Strickland. After 'The Grudge' wrapped, the two went their separate ways - though not for long. "I got home and realized I couldn't live without him."

"I love saying my wife this and my wife that. It never gets old."

Married in November to fellow actor Jason Behr ("Roswell"), the 1998 University of the Arts grad, honored last year with the school's Silver Star Alumni Award, said she planned every step of the Ojai, Calif., ceremony in tandem with Behr, who was working on a film in New Zealand and arrived home just five days before they were married. At one point, that meant flying to New Zealand, said Strickland, whose Georgia accent sounds untouched by the years she spent here. "I came with all of the ideas. I'd send him e-mails when I'd go to the florist and then we'd shoot the pictures through the Internet and then talk about it," she said. "There were hiccups" on the big day, she acknowledged. "I was very specific about where I wanted to be on that day in terms of where my heart was, and that's exactly where it was. And when I walked down the aisle, the only thing in the world that mattered to me was right there."

"He and I, as individuals, love Japan and always had an affinity for it, and neither of us knew the other person's work, but when I met him we pretty much became instant best friends because we would run off and explore anything. We were a little obsessive about the culture! The foundation of that interest developed over time, and here we are, I'm a very happy bride!"

"I’ll dance with my wife to anything, anywhere. I don’t care if we’re in the kitchen. Lennon plays big in our home. Anything by John Lennon. “You Are Here” is one of our favorites, and “Grow Old With Me.”

What keeps your marriage so solid? "What keeps it solid is just being honest." What was it about her that helped you to know she was the one? "Her humanity. She’s got the biggest heart."

Does the fact that you (wife, KaDee Strickland) both work in the business make it tough to maintain your relationship? "I think it’s great ‘cause you both understand what your day-to-day involves. Being an actor, you’re asked to do some pretty strange things, and it just helps when your partner in crime knows what that’s like."

What did he think when you told him you landed a part on Private Practice? "It made sense to him that this would be a wonderful environment for me to grow in as an actor. When you're with someone and you get to see them come home with something that excites them, there's really nothing better."

He was on Roswell with Katherine Heigl, wasn't he? "Yeah, he was! The world is so small. Half of the people on this crew worked with him then. We've had directors who worked on that show say, "You're married to the best man!" So it's very validating to me."

Any chance your husband will guest-star on Private Practice? "Oh, I'd love to work with him! If he would indulge me and they would indulge me, it would make my day. Are you kidding me? I would die to act with him, because we did The Grudge and we didn't have a single scene together. I would love that! In fact, I'm going to recommend it."

"I am obsessed with my husband!"
