Rita, I think because with Bonnie, she didn't accept his behavior and sort of challenged him to be better. He can apologize to Bonnie but she wouldn't instantly forgive him until she TRULY saw a change, she made him work for it.
We can even go to the whole letter, it took Bonnie a long time to forgive Damon for leaving and Damon of course was so upset that Bonnie didn't just read his letter, weep and forgive. It took her a long time to truly get to the place to trust and believe in him again.
I just loved that Bonnie didn't condone his bad behavior and always called him out on it! and instead of the famous Damon lashing out, he actually listened to what she was saying even if he disliked it.
