^ Oh, he definitely needed to hear it. Klaus thought he was protecting Hope by staying away from her, but his absence really hurt her.

He didn't want her to think of him as a monster, but she saw it anyway. And the second she got a glimpse of that side of him, he ran and hid. The least he could have done was to face her, either to explain or reassure her. He did neither.
