JET SET MAGAZINE: Ciro Guerra will direct Robert Pattinson.
Robert Pattinson will perform under the baton of the Colombian director in the film WAITING FOR THE BARBARIANS which will be shot in Chile.
In 2016 when Ciro Guerra was nominated for the Oscar Award for THE EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT the critics assumed that he would be under the awnings of Hollywood greats. And it was sooner rather than later: the story of the German explorer and the indigenous man who embarked on an ancestral journey through the jungles of the Amazon captivated producers Michael Fitzgerals and Olga Segura, who chose Guerra as the director of the film WAITING FOR THE BARBARIANS, which will have among its protagonists Robert Pattinson, the sexiest vampire of the Twilight Saga. In this same project, which will be shot in the middle of the year, will participate Mark Rylance, famous performer, director and English playwright, winner of the Oscar as best supporting actor for his role as a carefree man and nervous gesticulation in BRIDGE OF SPIES, Steven Spielberg. The new War movie is envisioned as the promising adaptation of the novel of the same name, from 1980, written by South African Nobel Price Winner J.M. Coetzee. The story, whose title derives from one of the poems of the Greek Konstatinos Kavafis, gets into the labyrinths of a village that lives in constant disquiet at the approach of an attack that never happens and connects with the obsessions of the Colombian filmmaker: a glossary of stories with an epic tone, melancholic characters and the underground struggle of powers. Ciro Guerra concentrates on the first drafts of the script and on the rereading of the South African book. He has not talked about his project with Pattinson yet. A confidentiality contract prevents him from revealing details of the film that could take him back to the Oscars.
