Supergirl 3.13 - "Both Sides Now"

I liked this episode overall but I have to say I'm really bothered by one thing...

It is getting tiring watching Supergirl and her inability to defeat the villains... it seems like every single confrontation ends with her looking very weak and defeated. Why does this continue to transpire? I know the present might not be a perfect example because we are talking World Killers who are virtually unstoppable (and made even the Martian look kind of weak) but it's still frustrating. I don't remember Oliver as GA ever looking this weak and defeated when I watched Arrow. Barry had his moments as The Flash but that was very early on and you rarely see it now. Kara looks consistently weak and defeated without any evolution. I don't like this. She is a powerful Superhero. It should go without saying she shouldn't be put in constant situations where she looks outsmarted both intellectually and physically. Bothers me tremendously. I'm not going to say it's because she's a female Superhero even though the thought is slightly circling around in my head. I hope this changes.

Regarding the episode overall...

- I found Alex a tad out of character in this one when she tried to go after Purity. Julia didn't come across as threatening initially. We found out her reasoning was due to the break up with Maggie. While it's understandable she's still in pain, I thought the Crossover did a good job of showing her moving on some. All her scenes with Sara seemed to serve a purpose and it was nicely done. It seemed kind of odd all of a sudden she'd be so down in the dumps again, let alone using it as an excuse to be super cold and aggressive with Julia/Purity.

Still, I loved Kara and Alex talking at the end. I love them... the heart and soul of the series. Although, I thought Winn was joining them? He wanted a ton of wings, lol.

- Brainy not being around to fix the ship was weird.

- Loved the Winn/Alex hug. I thought about how I might have liked them romantically way back in early season 1. Little did I know that would be an impossibility, haha. But he's a sweet brother (who happens to be brilliant) to both Kara and Alex. I love Winn.

- So now we know how Kara and Mon-El reunite. Arranged marriage... however, he did say he grew to love her. They aren't 100% fake in other words even though Mon-El admitted he might still be in love with Kara. I did like the discussion between Mon-El and J'onn. I also loved when Mon-El admitted he was a misogynist. He certainly was. The haters are out in full force now saying TPTB are trying to clean up his character, making it too obvious. Whatever. I don't care. I'm sick of the haters going on and on about how they will forever hate him due to his past. I don't take this approach. I believe people can change. He didn't kill anyone. Sure, he was horrible given how he viewed women but it was also due to having terrible parents who raised him a certain way. He has changed now, he's a different person and I buy the change. It doesn't mean I want Kara/Mon-El to reunite. I would love Kara/Brainy and observing comic canon. I just don't think it's in the cards. I am not torn up about it either way because I've never cared much about Kara's love life.

Back to Mon-El... what I am afraid of is TPTB are going to ruin Imra... whatever secret she has I am sure will piss Mon-El off and cause them to split. I wish they'd break up in a more organic way but the secret is a sign they'll try to make Imra look bad in order to facilitate the break up. I guess we'll have to wait a while to find out the real reason the Legion came back to the past.

Sam is pretty much completely out of control in the most obvious way possible... I don't know what Lena thinks is going on with Sam but Lena DID see Sam's red eyes flickering... right? They aren't going to make Lena dumb once again? It's bad enough she cannot figure out who Supergirl is (when we know she's brilliant and it's absurd), but if she didn't notice Sam's eyes turning when she got angry and thinks Sam has something like Multiple Personality Disorder instead it will be so lame. Lena is smarter than that!

Kara mentioning that they will save the World Killers was large foreshadowing, I believe... I think it's a hint they will find a way to get Julia and Sam back and the villain out of them for good.

Interesting, exciting episode overall.
