Your thoughts are my thoughts. It was really sad that he died but I didn't enjoy the Colin we received in flashbacks at all and even after woke up. I know some feel the Colin we received wasn't the real Colin in the flashbacks but I can't agree. I believe aspects of Colin as his health was declining were not the real Colin but there were many moments when we viewed the real Colin... I have to say I wasn't a fan of that Colin. He came across as really cocky and like you said, stubborn.

I agree, Jerry. It was necessary for Colin to die. Colin and Julia were always meant to be significant characters but in a unique way. The story was Everwood, two families coming together due to loss, tragedy, and healing together through direct relationships with each other.

It was a really sad story.

Poor Amy would still be floating in the land of delusion not in love with Colin. Of course we know Colin was breaking up with her before the accident so I don't think they would have lasted regardless. Ephram/Amy were way too meant to be. However, had Colin lived, the journey for Ephram/Amy would have been much longer and way more complicated.

Colin even brought Andy and Ephram together as maybe this was the first time when Ephram had to ask Andy for something and trust him. Colin brought Bright and Ephram together as friends.

It is bittersweet that he had to die, but in a way Colin was the past and they were headed to the future.

I understand why they killed Colin, but I liked his character so I was not happy about it.
Colin and Julia served the same purpose for sure... like you said they were the past and the future just wasn't in the cards for them in human form. In Spirit, absolutely. Colin and Julia were extremely important characters, that is for sure.
