Yep, I agree with you there. I hated the tail wagging the dog. I hated the fact that the comics had Peter start growing organic webbing after that first Spider-Man movie with Toby came out.
The two mediums should be separate from each other, and the comics shouldn't be messed with just to market some movies that'll be irrelevant in a decade once new filmmakers come along with different approaches to things. Every time one movie gets made, another filmmaker comes along in ten years and says, "I think we can get closer to the comics this time," and everything in the previous films gets tossed out the window. Great, so comics keep adjusting to things that won't matter in another ten years?
