As for Rory being drawn to her grandparents world, I have been thinking about that, sadly, and I feel that it's more her not wanting to hurt their feelings as opposed to her wanting to be a part of it. She knows how much Emily wants both girls in her life, her mother is reluctant, so she feels she should please Emily by taking interest. The parties Emily threw for Rory, the deb ball, the DAR parties, I felt Rory was gong along to please her grandmother, not because she wanted to be a part of that world.
