They were sort of friends through association though in season 2. And that also sort came from nowhere considering they could barely tolerate each other in season 1.

It wasn't that no one showed her sympathy, many people just avoided her, but in regards to BROOKE (Which is what we are talking about... not everyone else) she was just rude to her in that scene. "I got this place... for ME." and with that little side glance, IDK, it was weird and rude.
