Yeah, they haven't made the parents out to be evil like in the comics, but rather was manipulated by Jonah, and that they really do love their kids. I guess maybe its way to keep the parents in the show?

I actually didn't feel like the parents cared for the kids in the earlier eps. They were more concerned about their little group but the last few eps of the season made me change my mind especially when Jonah came around.
