I've always liked books or movies about young people in high school. But what me hooked were the interpersonal relationships. That it was also about basketball was of secondary importance. I don't need to like a special subject to watch a series. For example, I was a big 'Greys Anatomy' fan, but in real life I hate to go to hospitals. I watched 'True Blood' and can't see blood in real life.
Or years ago I watched 'The Profiler', but I hated everything about death and homicide.
