Yeah, well the writers really didn't know what they were doing back then. They were mostly reactive to what was going on in the comics, which was why they paired Rogue with Bobby instead, because they had a thing going on at the time in the late 90's after her breakup with Gambit. Although now her relationship with Bobby in the comics seems redundant given what's happened since then. And Rogue never had anything with Wolverine, though.
