Sure does.
But their engagement would've been richer had the writers done the work to finish out D/E's S1-S4 arc in a satisfying way instead of ending it with two sentences. We got four seasons of character development that needed a proper resolution to move D/E to the next stage of their relationship.
If the writers had done that properly, maybe Eric wouldn't have regressed in season 6. He and Donna could have dealt with new facets of themselves and their relationship instead of rehashing stuff that should have been dealt with earlier on.
