Rumple is looking for the guardian because apparently he/she is "the only one who's destined to hold such Darkness". I have a feeling it's not going to be as simple as that, though.. And we still don't know what he's going to do next in HH, or even what happened to him after he got to EF2 (besides meeting Alice and Regina and being almost run over by Henry). Oh, and he ended up in EF2 because he went to the "moment where the guardian was (supposedly) waiting for him". Which suggests that the guardian is either Alice or Henry, but I don't know..
