It's better whe they let characters grow up. And I prefer it when films acknowledge that these are not stories that evolved in the present day. X-Men: First Class did that when they set the movie in the early 1960s. That was the right thing to do, very satisfying. I liked the acknowledgement that the X-Men have been around for a while.
