The "casting couch" has always been around ever since the movie industry began, and probably before that too, so it's nothing new. And stuff of the level of what he's allegedly been up to isn't really new either, based on what I've heard from others. What is new is that people are finally talking about it and bringing it out from the shadows. There's always been a lot of shady or sharp practices in the entertainment industry, with loads of people all out to exploit you or rip you off, and it can be a soul-destroying career unless you've got a rhino-like skin. People think it's a glamorous life, but most of the time it's far from, and no surprise that a lot of people end up with relationship troubles, substance abuse problems or other issues.
