I'm torn. On one hand, slow and deliberate is necessary when done by a master. On the other hand, I do think there has been a trend lately for "set up seasons." Or because they have a season greenlit on Netflix and cable, they take their precious time to move the story along.
I don't know if I'd put this show in that category but it happens a lot. And it's frustrating because a well constructed show should maybe be taking one episode to set things up rather than seven.

I agree with all of that but it doesn't necessarily have to be done by a master and if a set up season will enhance the story I'm all for it. I dont think there is anyway that this show could only be set up in one or two episodes
One of my favorite things is the weird bonding between Holden and Tench. I also hate that we have to wait a year for the second season
I hope next year Anna goes out on cases with them, too.
