I certainly was NOT implying that there are more important issues than civil rights for same-sex couples. I would never dream of doing that.
I was just trying to illustrate that people won't stand for the violation of democratic rights over the long run.
I wish for you both that it would be over. And I think the results will be important. But even if your elected officials are on the wrong side of history this time, the world won't stand for it for too long.
