The pitch around the show is not that horrible. It definitely could be spinned around to make it connected to the original series...

As was said, Teen Wolf and Buffy were offshoots of movies. Not a earlier television show, with it's own hardcore fans.

It is insane to bring back the show, and use only the name. If the show doesn't get connected to the original show. Then they should change the name.

I can see why they want to do it. And there is a market for it. As I have long said, Roswell existed in a different time. Now, I believe it could be a hit. But it was too different for the late 90's, and early 2000's.

But I want a connection. And the theory of using Max and Tess's son is not the way to do it.
The connection would be that, like the original, the reboot is said to be based on the books by Metz. In the books, Liz was Hispanic, so the reboot would just be staying more true to the source material—at least in that one respect.

What originally caught my attention in the original was 1) the music, and 2) the cast chemistry. By the middle of the 1st season, Shiri and Jason were no longer seeing each other that way, and the character of Tess arrived. Although the series finale eventually gave a nod to the hope of "Liz & Max Forever," for me, the chemistry/romance of the "Pilot" through "Sexual Healing" episodes had long since fizzled. And then most of the original music was scrubbed from the DVDs because of copyright expenses. So I hope the reboot will somehow avoid these problems.

My main concern is that Jason Katims has gone on to a lot more success, and I know nothing about The Originals or the person responsible for that show, who is to be heading up the Roswell reboot.

Even though I was a somewhat older Roswell fan at the turn of this century, I had always thought I would live to see a reboot with new, young actors, so I don't have any of the negative feelings towards the reboot like others upthread. In January of 2016 I learned that I had inoperable stage 4 cancer. Obviously I survived. November 7, 2016 made me wonder why I had survived. This reboot is a sort of ironic answer to that specific disappointment, heh.
