I got to wonder... even if his Devil face was still working (Did someone steal it from him?) would it have even worked if he tried to show her...? Since he seems to be less powerful when she is nearby... And the same with showing her the wings as proof that he's more than a random mortal.

Pretty good... part of me suspected that he might have been faking the injury... but to risk the fate of the world by slowing them down that much just to escape? Bonkers. I could hope he leaves them be... but I could see him turning back up again... Pretty crummy for them to charge him with letting him go considering the circumstances... But I guess they've had a past of treating him badly for things.
