In season one, 3 was all out for himself! He was happy to sacrifice anyone if it meant he could live. When Jace Corso captured him and One, he was more than happy to sell out one.
In Season two, there was an episode where 5 was taken, and he jumped right to save her. Before, he wouldn't have done that for anyone. Five is like their little sister. Even though she can protect herself decently, they all strive to keep her from harm. Including 3.
I do like that 3, still essentially the gun loving nut, changed. He values the lives of his crew.
