It's a story of this group of adults who as children had to cope with being haunted by an evil entity who murders (and eats?) children, as well as a gang of bullies. They think they conquered it, but it comes back and they have to return to try to permanently rid the town of it and the evil entity takes the form of a clown called Pennywise, (to lure children with friendly red balloons) but can also take the form of your worst childhood or present nightmare or fear !
