That was where Peter Parker famously smacked the hell out of his pregnant wife, Mary Jane Watson, back-fisting her into a wall, and the Jackal tricked him into thinking that Ben Reily was the real Peter and that Peter was in fact, the clone all along. That was one of Marvel's many attempts at pissing off fans, only to be later eclipsed by Dan Slott's Superior Spider-Man, where Doctor Octupus' mind took over Peter's body after switching Peter's mind into his old, decrepit body. Peter did manage to get his mind back into his brain, but he was never in control during the time Doc Ock was in control. A year later, Peter managed to take back control of his body and expel Doc Ock from him completely, but not after alienating pretty much the entire fan base.
