That's true. You shouldn't make promises that you aren't certain you will be able to keep. They could have used less
definite language, or left it more open-ended. Perhaps they were just trying to appease Bash and Mash fans with Bash's promise to Mary. It was a very romantic pledge. They knew it would make everyone feel better if they believed Mary and Bash's bond wasn't broken and that he would come back. Plus, everyone involved (including Torrance)
really wanted it to happen. Sadly, they just ran out of time.
