Yeah, I agree that Dune definitely went on too long. I saw the sci-fi channel version as well as David Lynch's 1984 version. I actually felt sorry for Irulan in the sci-fi version and I wished that she and Paul could've ended up together in Children of Dune.
I like her a lot better than Chani and thought Julie Cox had better chemistry with Alec Newman.
At least they had one really good kissing scene before Paul left Arrakeen and went into the desert.
And of course, James McAvoy was Paul's son, Leto.
