Just to go back to Escape From New York .... While I'm generally not a fan of remakes, Robert Rodriguez has a unique enough vision that I think even if he doesn't hit it out of the park, it'll be interesting and the movie will be its own entity and not just a rehash.

And if my movie memory serves, Kurt Russell was considered just a lightweight Disney actor before John Carpenter cast him as Snake Plissken. Audiences and critics loved him, and it ended up redefining his career as a serious actor.

The movie also has dry humor, which Taylor would nail, along with the look and the physical demands of the part. I'd fly to Austin to meet with RR and pitch Taylor myself if I could!

OK I'm done.

I got to about page 10 or 15 of the first Shades book and it was so terribly written, I stopped there and never went back. I never even got to the sex part, clearly. But I didn't find the movie sexy at all. Jamie is sexier as a serial killer on The Fall.
