The story begins with a kiss. A good one. A man meets a once extremely hideous monster with fangs that turned the girl into a swan, and with Dan's one memory of that night, he was convinced that the lake was haunted by the mysterious dinosaur and his heart filled with dread and the feeling of the pressures on the mind that worried him and knowing that he might have to be the strong one. Friends are the best source for laughter and fun in a situation like the time Dan's mother was sick and he needed the space to cope with the worry that overcame him was important to make a recovery from all the heartache.
