Btw, I think what was the problem back in time with confusion between Brenda and Shannen's public image and hate she received. I think I Hate Brenda newsletter focused a lot on Shannen's alleged promiscuity. That was pretty much in time she started dating Chris Foufas, and she said herself she was in a relationship with his (best?) friend before. So there was discrepancy between innocent, faithful Brenda betrayed by her best friend and the actress who played her and who seemed as complete opposite. I think teenagers react pretty bad to such stuff, especially because media gave Shannen so much negative coverage and comments. But I really think her sexual behavior bothered girls who hated her more than anything.
