The thing about that is that whether it would go bad or not depends on where Shonda wants to take it if she were to ever go there. I've known many great friendships in real life to go onto be great relationships, too. The only difference is that real life is one thing but tv goes however the writer wants it to.
But lucky for me, just as long as Meredith and Alex keep getting good scenes, I'm fine with them being whatever Shonda wants them to be. We can all want and think what we want but at the end of the day, Shonda has the final say.
