United Nations Declares Oct. 21 'Wonder Woman Day' And Lynda Carter Will Be There!

Quote:
“Wonder Woman taught women to be who you are. I have received the greatest letters from people telling me what an inspiration she was to them because she represents an inner strength every woman has… To honor Wonder Woman and women all over the world is just amazing.”

It’s coincidental that Wonder Woman will be honored by the United Nations, as in the comic books, her alter ego, Diana Prince worked for that international alliance for many years.

Wonder Woman was created by psychiatrist William Moulton Marston (inventor of the polygraph lie detector, surely an influence on the Lasso of Truth), who wanted her to be as physically powerful as her male counterparts, but to also exemplify love, compassion, and peace.

Marston’s creation first twirled into comics in December 1941′s ‘All Star Comics’ #8 before leaping into not just one but TWO comics in which she was the star attraction, ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Sensation Comics’. This was not just impressive, but nearly unheard of! Prior to this, only Batman and Superman headlined their own comics! She has remained popular throughout the years, outlasting countless other superheroes.

Expect lots of additional celebrations and merchandise in honor of the character’s 75th anniversary. The US Postal Service is issuing a set of commemorative stamps and, of course, in June Gal Gadot assumes the role in the llive-actionsolo movie.
