Ok, I'll bring a part of my post from Brandon/Dylan thread here so we can discuss it wherever.

I am not sure that Brandon and Dylan managed to stay better friends than Brenda and Kelly after the triangle, but if they did, it was because in their case "the traitor" proved to be a true friend by helping the betrayed one. Brandon was really there for Dylan in S5 during his alcohol/drugs addiction. We did not have parallel situation with the girls. I guess therefore initially writers wanted Brenda to have diet pills addiction and Kelly to help her, so she could prove that she was still a good friend to Brenda. But there was no storyline in which Kelly helped Brenda after the triangle. Even when she tried, in Maggie the Cat audition, it backfired.
