I agree, I liked how they introduced him and how Phoebe fell in love with him. I also like how she makes him part of her family in the second half of this season. Cole does his best to not use his demonic powers except for shimmering in certain circumstances. His valiant effort to try to stay human and good is one of the reasons I liked him this season.
