Richard became a hugely popular and successful pop/rock artist starting in 1987. His debut album scored 4 huge top 5 hits, "Don't Mean Nothing" (#3), "Should've Known Better" (#3), "Endless Summer Nights" (#2) and "Hold On To The Nights" (#1).
Richard ended the 80s with his 1989 album and 5 more hit singles - "Satisfied" (#1), "Angelia" (#1), "Right Here Waiting" (#1), "Too Late To Say Goodbye" (#12) and "Children of the Night" (#13). Richard made the history books to become the first solo artist to have his first 7 singles hit the top 5.
