Name: Whitney Jordan
Age: Twenty-five
Family most closely affiliated with: Donahue by birth through her mother
Three Fast Facts:
• California, where the sun always shone and diversity ran rapid, provided a dream life for Whitney Jordan. Rather, her parents did. Charles and Jennifer’s ocean home was full of love and excitement. They taught their daughters the importance of hard work, simultaneously encouraging them to march to the beat of their own drums. Whitney never wanted it to end. But death is no respecter of persons. Orphaned at seventeen, Whitney found herself living with an unknown grandmother. Said grandmother was rich and judgmental. The Donahue matriarch’s stuffy demeanor was the antithesis of Jennifer Jordan. Pleasantries were faked; Eden acted out enough for the both of them, but inwardly Whitney raged. She left her room for meals and Sydney only.
• Eden and Sydney’s rivalry did little to calm Whitney’s nerves. Of all things, a moronic boy was at the center. Who was right (Sydney), who was wrong (Eden), none of it mattered. Honoring their parent’s legacy should’ve come first. When Syd cried in her arms, Whitney reminded her of this. She listed her talents, dance chief among them, and inspired change…a drastic change. The Tisch School of Arts called and Sydney answered. Her plan to steal away in the dead of night wasn't concocted by Whitney, but it certainly wasn't discouraged. The middle Jordan let out a laugh, the first since her parent’s accident, when Elizabeth discovered her pet project’s ‘betrayal.’
• Whitney remained in Richmond, Virginia through high school and the year after. She phoned Sydney often, to hear about college and remember their parents (Eden rejected the latter). The calls ignited a foreign feeling. Hope. Ignoring her anger, Whitney relocated to Maine. She needed space. Elizabeth didn’t understand but, nonetheless, attempted to fund the venture. Whitney refused to absolve her guilt over Jennifer. She rejected the handout, waitressing at a tourist diner instead. What happened at that diner can never be spoken of. Whitney returned to Richmond a year after ‘it’ happened for money. She attended the University of Virginia, at her grandmother’s request, to obtain a degree in English Literature. Post-graduation, Whitney accepted a job at Macmillan Publishers in Russia. Her communication with family soon became scarce. She phoned Sydney every other month and e-mailed her grandmother sporadically. Eden, she forwent all conversation with. When Elizabeth Donahue finally had enough, she saw to Whitney’s firing. Whitney is unaware of her involvement. Presently, she is back in Richmond searching for work.
