DC Comics bringing Geoff Johns' acclaimed Aquaman team back for new run | Blastr
Quote:
With the character set to eventually become a major factor in the Man of Steel universe, DC Comics is bringing back the A team to revamp its flagging Aquaman series.

Writer Geoff Johns and artist Ivan Reis are locked in to return for a new arc dubbed “Rise of the Seven Seas,” taking over for current writer Cullen Bunn. Johns and Reis led the character’s creative revamp with the New 52 relaunch, which actually managed to turn Aquaman into an awesome, non-silly hero. Johns left the ‘book in 2013, and it's never been the same.

After Johns moved on, the series went through a revolving creative cast that included Dan Jurgens and Lan Medina; Jeff Parker and Paul Pelletier; and then Bunn and Trevor McCarthy. Despite their best efforts, none of the replacement teams could match the creative success of the Johns era. DC seems to have finally realized that, so they’re passing the reins back to Johns.

We already knew Johns' New 52 run was a major inspiration for the film version of the character that'll be played by Jason Momoa, so who knows, give it a few years and this new arc could become a future film sequel.
