Even though I didn't like Katrina, Ichabod did love her and she is his ex-wife, so he is dealing with her death. I am sure sometimes he think of her. Then it's his son he couldn't save and he really doesn't have any family.

All she can do is remind him that he's home, its gonna take Ichabod a while to truly feel like it is.
Of course he's still dealing with it, he killed her. That's not gonna go away. When he's alone it'll all bombard him, the knife in his hand, the threat to Abbie, the soul deep choice he made to side with Abbie over the woman he loved.
