I felt the same about Mitch. I think it brought Dawson down to earth for a bit seeing his Dad so vulnerable like that. And I don't mean any disrespect to Dawson, it's just how teenagers can be and they don't get to see their parents in that light.
I was routing for Joey and Jack when I first watched DC because I really liked how quiet and shy Jack was. I continued to love him throughout the entire series (with the exception of his downward spiral with the Frat boys).

Yeah, sometimes it's hard to wonder where your parents are coming from when your young. They are human too. I really liked Jack throughout the series. I do not condone him kissing someone's girlfriend because that is wrong, but he was such a sweetheart and I cried when the writers made him gay. I was like noooo! I agree about his downward spiral in s5 that s/l was so unnecessary.
