It's her choice if she wants to risk it all for Vincent. She has to deal with the consequences. But it's not very nice to ask for such high risks from others. I mean Tess could voluntarily offer help then that's fine.
Even the Captain noticed it and said Tess has a legit shot at Captaincy and don't let Cat screw it up.
