Yes, I also agree with that. Oliver has seen bad things and he's been to dark places (literally but also metaphorically) and it has made him very mature and also a little bit pessimistic but he's never truly wrong with the things he says and how he looks at the world. Clark on the other hand is the ultimate optimist and therefore his attempts of trying to bring Oliver back on track have always sounded a bit naive. But I guess that's exactly why the two of them made such a good team. They balanced each other.
