The writers are not good with most characters not named Barry (or Eobard Thawne) but are especially bad with the women.
Caitlin doesn't have much of a plot these days and I guess she's just going to assist in the lab till Firestorm returns or she becomes Killer Frost.
Iris is being used as a plot device at this point. She's an investigative reporter but I'm yet to see her actually investigate (it seems they think investigation is going to talk to Barry or Eddie about Mason (either what he suggested or that he's missing). She claimed she would start investigating STAR labs and I suppose they will stall her till the episode she investigates and uncovers everything in the span of 30 minutes.
Once I accepted that almost every single character is just there to support Barry, it's gotten more fun and I no longer get annoyed.
