I believe that season 8 is going to start in July, along with season 1 of atlantis.
Scifi Friday has always been on an alt. schedule, this way while most shows are in repeats, they're showing new episodes. Pretty ingenous huh? Can't believe that skiffy came up with that.
As for jack and his ancient knowledge, I'm going with E7's comments, direct rip on Farscape, and a silly excuse as to why Jack won't be around much next year.
