I hate hearing that too. I know like, ratings wise Breaking Bad got better as the seasons progressed, but Season 1 in my opinion is really good and was not "slow" for me at all.
I was watching The Writer's Room the other day with the writers of BrBa and Bryan Cranston talked a lot about the pilot and how extraordinary it was. That first scene was so suspenseful and exciting.
