But here is what you will never hear in The 100 writers’ room: “Let’s do Story X because the fans will love it.” Or, “Let’s do Story Y because the fans will get really mad.” We adore all of our fans, but your opinion is not the barometer by which we judge what story to tell or not tell. I don’t even know how it could be. Which fans should we please? Who decides? That way lies madness.
We’re trying to tell a story about characters in an impossible situation, about a world alien to what we know, about the nature of humanity itself. In discussions about that kind of stuff, demoralizing a certain set of fans isn’t even on our radar.
